Are we obsessed with choosing the best cleanser for your skin type? But what about the best way to dry your cleansed face? Double cleansing your face is the first step of your skincare routine. You reach for your towel because that’s what towels are for, to dry your face. Many of us use standard terrycloth towels, without grasping it, it is a harsh tool. The scary part, that daily repeated scrapping of the rough towel pulling against the skin, pilling away face essential oils which leads to a dryer, more irritated skin, while prolonged pulling and rubbing can lead to saggy skin over time. Avoiding a towel for the face is common practice among many Korean women. For one thing, the towel you have hanging in the bathroom is often dirty and harboring bacteria, fungus, dead skin, oils and other dirt can collect on the face towel not visible to the naked eye, which your skin can be at risk for infections, acne flare, and irritations.

Instead of using towel that’s been sitting around, collecting bacteria, here some recommendations that you might consider:

  • Use small face towels – and use them once! Using a clean towel every time helps limit the number of bacteria your skin is exposed to.
  • Use paper towel to remove excess water.
  • Air dry– we don’t mean to leave your face wet and dripping as you sit around, waiting for your face to dry. Use your hands to clear excess water from your face, giving yourself a little face massage in the process.
