Gentlemen let’s face it; we have no clue how to take care of our skin. We spend so much time taking care of our bodies in the gym trying to look suitable for the ladies with bulging biceps, claw-like triceps and chest peaks for days, but forget the most important and largest organ, our skin. Skin is more than a fleshy surface for pimples, tattoos, and wrinkles. The integumentary system or skin is one of the most critical organs, along with hair, nails, glands, and nerves. The system acts as a protective barrier between the outside and the inside of the body. In humans, this system accounts for about 15 percent of total body weight.

Anyway, this is not a health article. We are here to talk about skincare for us, men. The typical Neanderthal approach for men is to wash their faces with bar soap and water, which in turn dries the skin immensely. Maybe we do not care about skincare; however, we should care as it will the most powerful tool against wrinkles, acne, and even sun damage. Most importantly, the comment of friends and family saying either, “You so young these days” or, “You look so tired.”

There are so many products out on the market that we would not even know where to begin, which is true. However, you will have to experiment with several different products until you find the product that fits your budget and skin type. It also takes commitment, consistency, and care.

“Treat your skin with respect! Men’s daily skincare it’s simple and you can get started today and create your own skincare routine as little as five minutes and so you can have a healthy youthful skin.”

What is your skin type?

  • Normal: Your skin stays oil-free most of the day
  • Oily: Your skin has oily patches and is shiny
  • Dry/Sensitive: Your skin is irritated easily and frequently dries out
  • Combination: Your skin is oily from your forehead to your nose and your cheeks usually are dry
  • Aging: Your skin is wrinkled, leathery and has age spots

Once you identify your skin type, buy and use products that match your skin type.
Three easy steps men’s daily skincare routine:

Cleanse: Wash your face twice a day with a cleanser that is recommended for your skin type. It will remove the dirt, grime, and excess oil that lives inside your pores. Doing so will prevent clogged pores, pimples, and will minimize shine. Best to use warm water to open and expend your pores use your suited cleanser for your skin type and lightly rubbing in a circular motion. Rinse with cool water as this shrink your pores. Gently pat your face with clean face towel.

Exfoliate: This should be done twice a week for the guys with dry skin and every other day with fellas with oily to combination skin with a facial scrub. Pick a gentle scrub and rub it in gently and then rinse with warm water. I prefer to do this before I go to bed. Exfoliating scrubs away any dead skin cells that would clog pores. Also, exfoliating allows new healthier skin cells to live on the surface, giving you a brighter complexion.

Moisturize: After cleansing and buffing the skin, let’s use a moisturizer that will hydrate and protect the skin. Men need to moisturize their skin to create a barrier to shield from complexion compromising toxins. Add shaving and moisturizers become a necessary element of any man’s skincare regimen. The good news is that water-based, oil-free moisturizers are perfect for most men’s skin. Add a few drops in your fingertips and rub gently onto your skin.

Easy isn’t it? Yes, it is. Even the most barbaric man with a hunter’s beard can cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize to keep his skin ageless. Come on, guys; beauty is not just for women; it is for us men as well. Treat your skin with respect! Men’s daily skincare it’s simple and “you” can get started today and create your own skincare routine as little as five minutes and so you can have a healthy youthful skin.
